Ch. 7 sees a dramatic turn in the story. Victor learns of William's death ... has a brief encounter with the creature ... and realizes the creature is the murderer. As he returns home, he learns from his family that Justine is the accused murderer. He knows Justine is innocent, and only he knows the murderer's identity. It is here that Shelley cranks up the tension and horror. Eventually, as the crimes continue, Victor will come to the terrible realization of his own guilt.

I'm sure the people that read these posts appreciate your summary. I know I do. Thanks, Jim!
Midjourney sometimes gives a photo, sometimes gives a cartoon look. So yes, it was on purpose. You're right though, sometimes this book is heavy.
To quote the Canadian band the Barenaked Ladies:
"How can I help it if I think you're funny when you're mad?
Trying hard not to smile, though I feel bad
I'm the kind of guy who laughs at a funeral
Can't understand what I mean? Well, you soon will
I have a tendency to wear my mind on my sleeve
I have a history of taking off my shirt"
