I don't understand why people want/need to be MORE connected than we already are. This is too much. Humans are already cut off from each other with their faces in their phones. Now they want to strap it to their faces?
I absolutely agree with you… except that I will never use the word ’connected’ in this context 😊 I think this is another step — no, a quantum leap — in disconnectedness and the erosion of human skills.
It certainly is sad. One of the things I’ve written about lately is the ironic tendency to use more ‘human connectedness’ language, while at the same time being less connected. 😊
The criminals are going to be out looking for these people with their funny-looking devices on. This is a way to o get yourself robbed. How can you see when someone is near you, ready to steal your wallet or worse? I can hear it now.
As others have said, why do we need to be more connected?
We need to get back to the basics of life. What did we used to do without these devices?
The Casey Neistat video was fascinating. Are the ski-goggles clunky? Sure. Do we really want to modify our worldly existence with non-stop online connectivity? Probably not. But no doubt, as Neistat observes, this most assuredly is a glimpse into the future of computing. When they can make this interface the size of regular sunglasses, it could replace phones, tablets, etc.
People who know me also know that this apparent race to dehumanise human beings is one of my ‘hot button’ topics. I will follow this with (morbid) interest.😉

Excellent point. We’ll have to see if this new technology separates us even more.
Oh it will. Generations younger than me are being raised this way. They lack basic human skills because of technology 🤣
True story, unfortunately.

Ooooh good catch on my word choice. You're so correct and it's pretty sad to watch.

The world seems to change more and more all the time. I'm not sure if it is for the better, though?

Funny, we couldn't have imagined this future when we were kids. They don't even teach kids how to write cursive at school any more. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I remember as a boy thinking the Star Trek communicators and tricorders were cool. And now they both exist as smartphones. 😂
Yeah but, no flying cars? LOL
The guys pictured in the subway cars are prime candidates for a mugging. ;-O
😁
When it gets down to the size of my eyeglasses, which probably won't be too long, I'd go for it.
I think that's what they will be aiming at. Meta has some out now, with limited capabilities. https://www.meta.com/ca/smart-glasses/shop-all
Thanks for sharing this (I think) 🙂

Thanks, Janette!
