Paul, have you been keeping up on what's going on with the OpenAI saga? The heavily altruistic board fires Sam Altman, two proxy replacements are installed and quickly discarded, Altman is rehired and the whole altruism cabal is shitcanned. Capitalism over altruism!
Shouldn't be surprising, (eh?), given that Microsoft, Apple and Amazon are among OpenAI's top 5 investors.
I've also heard rumors that OpenAI is on the threshold of a powerful and terrifying development of an AI technology that far surpasses anything to date. I'm interested in hearing what you know. -- Jim
I am loving all the drama I'm being fed from this laptop. Kinda like watching an episode of I Dream of Jeannie when I was a kid.
Most of the sensationalism we are seeing in the AI world is speculation about the future. I choose not to get involved with much of the hype cycles. (you are referring to new AI tech which could destroy mankind. Doom conspiracies are fun to watch, but I don't think too deeply about what might happen. - as far as I know, still no one can predict the future).
That's not to say that I don't enjoy reading/watching this stuff, (like Elon's appreciation for his ex-advertisers), but it is just entertainment to me.
Not sure if that was the answer to your question, but hit me up on email (paulmacko at gmail) if you'd like to dive deeper into it. Maybe set up a zoom call. Thanks for your comments!
You always find the coolest stuff!
Thank you, Sri. Your comment makes it all worth it!
