One of my "secret" sites, Paul! Oh, the fun I have here! In fact, the site helped me re-write Internet history, helping to prove (as I had asserted) that the actual order of covers for Ned Doheny's "Get It Up For Love" was FRONT ROW & BACKSTAGE's own Stephen Michael Schwartz (1974), Johnny Rivers (later that year), and David Cassidy (1975)!

My recorded interview with Cassidy in May '75 aurally proved it (that interview can be heard on FR&B, as well), but so many places on the interwebs have Cassidy being the first to record the song! Nope! Here's the documentation (includes screen shot of the Secondhand Songs page for "Get it Up For Love"): https://bradkyle.substack.com/p/inside-tracks-3-ned-doheny-get-it

Well, as you know - you are top of mind when I find these obscure to me music related one things. It's fun that you already know the site. Not surprising, tho.

Rather than just have a "fun" music connections site, it is always cool to see sites that actually have real world use. Then you throw in a year old newsletter that has proven the site to be a useful tool. Even more so than Wikipedia - everyones go to.

Thanks for the comment, and I liked the article about Michael, and David, and Johnny Rivers.

Well, thanks, Paul, and thanks for shining a light on a valuable info source.....I didn't think it would (or could) stay "my little secret" for long!! As I mentioned somewhere (it may be in that article), I was curious to see just how possible it could be, even with the multi-tiered proof, to move the massive boulders of truth on the Web. I haven't checked, but I'd be willing to bet Doheny's Wiki page still has Cassidy recording his song first! *sigh*

Oh, well........I know/we know, and it was cool showing Stephen, ultimately, how all the cards fell into place putting him at the front of that cover line! This was one rare instance where the actual songwriter ended up doing a literal "cover" of his own song, after half-a-dozen had given it a whack!

Put on your best Motley Crue... covers, covers, covers!!! I love them especially Live. I used to do this at parties and that was to have a contest with the fellow partiers, break them into teams and I would play songs and they would have to decide if the song was an original or a cover.

It was so much fun to watch their faces when they found out they were incorrect . Everyone enjoyed it because they knew the songs but not the stories behind them. The one song that always nailed them was โ€œWithout Youโ€ by Badfinger as they always think Harry Nilsson not only sang it first but they thought he wrote it too which is perfectly normal since he is a wonderful and noted songwriter. Speaking of Harry Nilsson, he did the featured song in โ€œMidnight Cowboyโ€ โ€˜Everybodyโ€™s Talkinโ€™ but he didnโ€™t write it, was written and recorded by Fred Neil (remember him and His Playboy Band back in the 60โ€™s) but also in the film the song โ€˜Oneโ€™ made itโ€™s debut but not by Three Dog Night, the song was coincidentally/ironically written and performed by Harry Nilsson. No wonder the film was rated โ€œXโ€ since there were so many Xceptions in the music.

Did Three Dog Night write any songs?
