More SEO Tricks to Help your SubStack in 2022
StackHacks: Tricks are not just for kids
I ran across this idea on a web forum. I thought it would make sense to share it with my fellow StackHacks Marketing people:
“So, there's a little trick I've been doing that more people should know about. It's a clever workaround that lets you keep using Substack and your domain.
Each time you post a newsletter on Substack, copy & paste it over to a blog post on your website.
A week after publishing to Substack, erase the post, leaving a big fat link to your website. Say something like, "This issue has been archived and is available at yourpersonalname.com. Read now -->"
Now, every "web" visitor to your Substack will end up on your website, helping you gain traffic, trust, and rankings with Google.
It also means there is no risk of content cannibalization/duplication since there is only one "live" version of your content at any given time.

Why do this?
So you can’t be Deplatformed.
From an SEO point of view, there are a few reasons:
❌ You have control over all aspects of SEO (Search Engine Optimization) on your website.
❌ With a SubStack site, you can’t make it faster. Site speed is one of the main criteria Google looks at for ranking order.
❌ You can’t inject code (like Google Analytics Tracking ID) (robots.txt file) (sitemaps) or add meta tags for your description:

</script>✔ SubStack does a good job with the mobile version of your site. It is fairly fast. And mobile-friendliness is a major SEO ranking criterion.
✔ All the SubStack articles use SSL Security (the little lock icon beside htpps - where ‘s’ stands for a secure site.
✔ It would be hard for someone to hack into your SubStack website, and easier for a hacker to get into your website. (Unless your last name is Snowden).
✔ You can implement some on-page SEO techniques that will help Google find and rank your site:
