I love that Lenny Kravitz turned down commercial offers that didn’t fit his authenticity, slept in his car, and eventually found success. Of course, there are stories of other principled artists who didn’t sell out and are still sleeping in their cars. The price for creative integrity is high. We admire and celebrate the ones who make it, because their stories appear in media. But the other principled souls, still parked under bridges, we may never know.

That archery video is very entertaining; Just like Lars (and Lenny), I had a phase that’s a little embarrassing in retrospect. I wanted to be an archer. Robin Hood, Hawkeye, Green Arrow—these were my role models. My dad humored me and I’d shoot stacks of old coffee cans in our garage and once in a while he’d take me to a range. My sister took me to the Renaissance Faire (is that still a thing?) and I dressed as Robin Hood in tights and a tunic. I took my bow, but they wouldn’t let me bring my arrows in.
