Interesting (and very tricky) example of brand names used generically.

In the UK, most people say Sellotape for any sticky tape.

In Australia, (maybe not so much nowadays) they called it Durex ( which was the best selling brand).

Trouble is, in the UK, Durex is a generic reference to condoms.

I remember a young UK teacher assistant, working in Australia, being very embarrassed and confused when her supervisor (innocently) asked her to go to the supply office because he "needed some Durex".

I could probably have added "scotch tape" for this part of the world. Not sure about Durex brand here. Seems that the Durex commercials could write themselves:)

IF it lasts that long! 2.35 to 1 isn't sustainable. Or . . . in whose finances is that workable???

I know, it seems ridiculous. But they try and justify it. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Call 911 in an emergency? Yep! Even if you’re in Australia, apparently. Clearly it doesn’t work, but an unbelievable number (I haven’t looked it up) do just that. Too much US TV, obviously.

Thanks for pointing out that it doesn't work in Australia.

Wow that’s a good blue angels story. When I first read it I thought they crashed but then how could the guy write an explanation of he was dead? They fly over SF every year for Fleet Week and it’s a good time. I think it was just a few weeks ago because I saw this awesome snap of one of the planes crossing the Golden Gate

I don't think I've heard Drew? One Zetosecond is the amount of time it takes my dog to shake his tail when I ask him if he wants to "go.... "
