Paul, You give the most valuable advice. Substack should pin your post to their writer section.

I have so much to fix now on my welcome email. Follow up, I don’t have any freebie and so what’s the best way to figure out how to make one?

Thanks, Emily!

If you don't have a give away, then make one. Create a new post. Title it:

"My 5 Most Popular Articles of all Time". Write a little blurb about each after the title, and a link to those separate posts. Make this less than 500 words. Use some graphics and make it look nice.

Then go to "Print page", but instead of printing, choose print to PDF. Save that PDF file then drag it into your Welcome page. That's the Bonus.

You can also display that post (not the PDF) prominently on your front page.

Hope that helps!

That’s such a good idea for me that feels doable! When you say make it look nice, do you mean the graphics on the PDF ? If so, then I have to force myself to get logos made for my newsletter. I have avoided it because I’m not convinced I have the right title (people think I am Emily Post instead of homage to her) and so I don’t even have headers on my emails. You inspire and push me. I’ll get cracking.

PS have you tried quordle today ? Impossible

You're not Emily Post? Maybe you could be "the Modern Day Emily Post"? Don't worry too much about graphics. Maybe a couple of icons that relate to your posts, sprinkled in? I get them from here: https://thenounproject.com/

Emily, I'll second what you said about Paul's advice. The only way I've found to add a freebie/lead magnet in my substack posts is to link to something I've created and hosted on my website - but I'm sure there's got to be a better way.

I had to turn off the emails back to me because I was buried and couldn’t dig out of them. But I think that would be a good giveaway -- just email you an idea or question and get a personal direct reply.

I’m absolutely in love and adore Substack and it seems that a lot it marketing stuff I tried learning over the years has went over my head in trying to create an online business, but my goodness your tips and advice are SUPER helpful!

So I’m gonna take a breather from your posts haha. About to get my editorial calendar together right now and see if I can pound out some posts I channeled though last night into a content schedule so I can focus more on optimizing it all with your tips!

You’re a gem! Thanks so much for coming to my newsletter, I wouldn’t have seen your nuggets otherwise!
