Q: So, should you have your realtor put a sign on the lawn when your home is listed for sale?
Maybe you don't want the neighbors to know that you want to move. Everyone that's looking will see it on the MLS anyway, right?
A: Make sure you have a sign on your lawn when selling your home!
This is what happened to us 6 years ago. We got a call from a fellow realtor who was viewing a property a block away from our listing. His clients wanted to see our listing because they had just driven past it going to their pre-booked showing a block away.
Our listing was not on their list of homes to see, as it was priced just beyond their upper price limit.
Well, we accommodated them with a 15 minute window to let them see the home. It was not in a show home ready state, but it was presentable after the 15 minutes of picking up clothes, putting dirty dishes in the dishwasher, and a quick sweep and wipe.
They were inside for about 10 minutes. Not a good showing. We shrugged it off and carried on with our day. The next day the realtor who showed it apologized for the quick showing request, and booked another showing for the following evening.
He explained that our home was priced a bit beyond their upper price criteria, but it made a statement to them when they drove by it to see the other place. Had it not had a realtor for sale sign, the eventual buyers would have never bought it.
I was a licensed realtor at the time we sold this home. I have since retired after 13 years in the industry.
Lesson: Say yes to a sign to advertise your home for sale.

Can you imagine? It kind of re-affirms peoples view of realtors. Do nothing for the exorbitant fees they charge for โuploading a listingโ.

She's not wrong about realtors. They DON'T do enough work to justify their commissions. All they do is start sending you auto-generated listings that aren't even close to what you're looking for. They don't listen to what you want at all, yet have the balls to ask you to sign a contract stating that you have to work with them exclusively.
Also, she's not wrong about the average Canadian who will never be able to buy a home in their lifetimes. Realtors ARE kind of tone deaf when it comes to the plight of unattainable housing.
...imagine the smell of the farts in that realtor room...what horrorcious dweebs...
