What is a Lava Lamp?
A lava lamp is a decorative light with colorful blobs that slowly move up and down inside a glass bottle. It has two main parts: a glass container filled with liquid and wax, and a base with a light bulb.
How Does It Work?
1. Heat Up:When you turn on the lamp, the bulb heats the wax at the bottom.
2. Float: The warm wax becomes lighter (less dense) than the liquid, so it floats up like a bubble.
3. Cool Down: When the wax reaches the top, it cools off, becomes heavier (more dense), and sinks back down.
4. Repeat: This cycle of heating, rising, cooling, and sinking creates the relaxing blob movement.
The lava lampβs blobs keep moving as long as the light is on, making it a fun, hypnotic decoration. Groovy!

People have been using red tape to tie important papers together for a very long time - maybe even since the 11th century in England! Back then, workers used red cloth ribbons to hold official papers. Theyβd seal the ends with melted wax so only the intended person could open them. To read the papers, you had to cut the tape, which is where the saying βcutting through the red tapeβ comes from.

An elephant's memory is so good that it not only recognizes all the members of its own clan but even other creatures who leave a strong impression on them. A pair of elephants who had performed in a circus together were able to recognize each other when they met again after 20 years.

IKEA operates under a unique corporate structure, which is often misunderstood to mean it is a nonprofit. While IKEA does not operate as a traditional nonprofit, it does have a nonprofit foundation, the Stichting Ingka Foundation, that holds the majority of its assets and controls the company's overall operations. This foundation's charitable purpose allows IKEA to minimize taxes and make it more difficult for a hostile takeover.
6 Boys Vanished at Sea - The True Story Shocked the World
In 1965, six teenage boys from Tonga decided theyβd had enough of boarding school. So, they stole a small boat and set off, hoping to reach Fiji or maybe even New Zealand. Their names were Luke, Stephen, Sione, David, Kolo, and Mano.
They didnβt get far.
On the very first night, a huge storm hit. It tore apart their sail and snapped their rudder. The boys were stuck, drifting in the ocean. For eight long days, they had no food and no water. Just the sea and the sky, and each other.
Then, a miracle. They spotted landβan empty volcanic island called Κ»Ataβ, about 100 miles from where they started. The boat smashed into the rocks, but the boys made it to shore. They were cut up, weak, and badly dehydrated. But they were alive.
At first, survival was rough. They caught seabirds and drank the blood to stay alive. They collected rainwater whenever they could. But after about three months, they caught a break. Deep in the crater of the island, they found the ruins of an old village. There were overgrown cropsβwild taro, bananas - and even some chickens running around. They got to work.
They built shelters from palm fronds and branches. They started farming what they found. They even managed to make fire using traditional methods, and kept it burning for over a year. They split chores. They kept a schedule. They made a guitar out of driftwood and coconuts and started writing songs to lift their spirits.
One boy broke his leg falling off a cliff while hunting birds. The others carried him, fed him, cared for himβuntil he could walk again. At one point, they tried to escape by building a raft. The sea destroyed it. So they stayed put.
Then, 15 months later, in September 1966, a fisherman named Peter Warner spotted smoke rising from the island. He knew it was supposed to be deserted. Curious, he came closer. What he found shocked him: six teenage boys, alive and well.
Back in Tonga, their families had already buried them. Funerals had been held. No one expected a happy ending. But there they were.
People often compare this story to βLord of the Fliesβ. But this was the opposite. The boys didnβt turn savage. They didnβt fight or fall apart. They stayed calm. They stayed kind. They shared everything and they looked after each other.
Itβs one of the greatest real-life survival stories ever told. A story of friendship, teamwork, and pure grit.
In the early 1900βs, Chuck Norris built the entire 12,900 route miles (the Canadian portion) of the CN Railway himself in one week. What did you think CN is short for?
Any stories good enough to ReStack here?
So many things! First, in my younger years, when I was (cough cough) "less responsible," lava lamps could consume hours of my time! Loved the goodbye from the Outdoor Boys. Finally, the survival story says a lot about how we should live our lives. I believe that every day we have a choice and that choosing kindness is the choice that will make the most difference. That is what these boys did.
Fun to find out how lava lamps work. Very clever.
The story of the Tonga boys was so heartwarming. There has to be some story about what happened to the abandoned village on that island. Where did those people go?
