The other day I was looking at a deer in my back yard with his head facing away from me and when I waved my arms his ears moved. He was not alarmed, but was aware of my presence behind him (inside the house). Deer have about a 310ΒΊ field of peripheral vision. Their eyes are positioned on the sides of their head and are large. By contrast, people have around a 160ΒΊ+ field of lateral vision.
